Decorating for Christmas

We love decorating the house for Christmas, but like many others, it really came up fast. The tree went up the weekend after Thanksgiving, but we didn't get the lights outside until last week. I'm even late posting pictures. Oh well! Most of our shopping is done, and we are so excited.

We open our family gifts on Christmas Eve, and share the story of "The night before Christmas". We put out cookies and milk, and send the kids off to bed. The next morning, Thomas and I lay in bed playing opossum, to see their little faces light up when they see what Santa has brought. Now, unlike when I was little, they tend to check out everything, not just their stuff, before waking everyone else. That's how it's been in the past years, anyway. When I was little, I couldn't wait to get everyone up to see what Santa left, and to share that he finished all the cookies and milk.

On Christmas morning, we share the story of Jesus' birth and remind the children of the true meaning of Christmas. It is hard to get them to land long enough for them to listen, but they can usually tell us the story themselves.

I can't wait to share the events of this year, as well as hear from other family and friends. I hope that everyone has a wonderful Christmas!
